Sunday Coffee v4
Two weeks without a real blog post makes me feel a little useless, about as useless as I feel being back on Facebook after six months away. It's for great reasons - I'm taking on operations at a couple Pages, including Raptors HQ - but there is a miserable sense of how it really is impossible to leave. My friends were cool about not rubbing my nose in it, though - especially after my frequent statements of grandeur on being the rebel to leave the platform. Sigh.
Other than that major life update (unless you want to hear about early morning runs), I'll leave it to the music this Sunday.
This week's mix is the anti-Valentine's Day music I know so many of you crave this weekend. Inspired by, and including, cuts off Drake's mixtape "If You're Reading This It's Too Late", I wanted to feature a more laid-back sound.
While mixtapes are intended to be loose, there's nothing that isn't pre-meditated on what Drake put out - "Now & Forever" is another pinnacle in the sound he helped bring to the mainstream. Gleaming, staccato, it punches without dominating attention, allowing Drake to riff above it and let it flow effortlessly. It's not a track many will talk about, but it sits in a back half of the mixtape where 40 stunts a little extra.
Again, I'm not promising that my mix featuring favourites with this sound is actually good. This is not my day job. But, there's some good tracks in the listing. Enjoy the long weekend, guys.
